The pathology practice Vechta is a member of the quality circle –
pathology / pathology of the breast –, which was founded under the
overall control of Dr. Leichsenring, Gütersloh in the year 2000.
At present, pathologists of by now six different practices or
institutes meet on a regular basis (six times a year) for an exchange
of information between colleagues. During these meetings, the samples
chosen by the chair man are viewed under the microscope together,
talked over and critically discussed.
Once a year, a round robin test immuno histochemistry is performed. In
the year 2005, the quality of prognostic and therapeutic factors
important in the therapeutical management of carcinoma of the breast
(estrogen and progesterone receptors, herceptin status, proliferation
index) was analyzed.
The way and form of the quality circle – pathology / pathology of the
breast – is a very useful information infrastructure in daily routine
work, and one which I would not like to do without.
